The Kutch Bustard Sanctuary (also known as Lala-Parjan Sanctuary) near Naliya is one of India's most critical wildlife conservation havens. Established to protect the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard — one of the heaviest flying birds on Earth, weighing up to 15 kg — the surrounding Naliya tropical grassland provides an invaluable sanctuary for bustards, Chinkara antelopes, desert foxes, and wintering raptors.
