Understand the places on the map
The White Rann is a seasonal salt-flat landscape. Dhordo is a nearby village and visitor base. Rann Utsav's Tent City is a separately operated seasonal accommodation and event site. These are related but different places, and a White Rann entry permit or visit does not by itself include Tent City accommodation, meals, transfers or activities.

Access and permits
- Gujarat Tourism provides an online White Rann entry permit portal. Check the current requirements, eligible dates, documents, fees and instructions there before travel.
- The public information reviewed for this guide did not establish a single current checkpoint process or after-dark access rule. Do not rely on older checkpoint advice; confirm both with the permit portal or local authorities for your visit date.
- Tent City packages have their own booking terms and inclusions. Check the official operator directly and do not assume a day visit to the White Rann includes access to private Tent City facilities.

Route planning
- Use Bhuj as the arrival base, then route to the specific White Rann access point shown by the current permit or operator instructions; distances vary by endpoint.
- If combining the Rann with Kalo Dungar, Khavda or Dholavira, map each leg before booking a same-day transfer. Avoid treating Road to Heaven as a short detour from Dhordo.
- For a full-moon visit, check the official calendar and access hours for the exact date. Arrange a safe return or overnight stay before travelling after dark.

Choose where to stay
- Dhordo and nearby villages have accommodation options outside the official Tent City. Check directly with each property for location, dates, transport and what is included.
- The official Rann Utsav Tent City is a private seasonal stay and event experience. Confirm package inclusions, transfers, White Rann access and cancellation terms with its official operator.
- A Bhuj base can work for a day trip, but calculate your return route and timing using the current access instructions rather than relying on a generic distance.
